The Mishmarot and Ma’amadot by Edgar Ramos
Book and Chart
A concise book describing the administration of the Temple. Weekly in the Temple there was a rotation
of Mishmarot or Divisions of the Priests and Levites who would daily perform the services. In addition
each of the 24 Districts of Israel would send a delegation of males to stand praying daily as the Incense
was burned in the Temple Building. This third group was known as the Ma’amadot (Standing Men), who
would also witness all Communal Offerings. The duties of these three groups, as well as the various
administrators and their staffs are explained with the aid of charts and text. The accompanying chart
shows how this administration was divided across the country explaining the Levitical Cities.
